Amazon.com Review
This knife block set carries a useful assortment of standard knives for outfitting a kitchen. The set includes a 2-1/2-inch peeling knife, a 4-inch paring knife, a 5-inch serrated utility knife, a 6-inch utility knife, and an 8-inch chef's knife, as well as a 7-inch hollow-edge santoku, an 8-inch bread knife, and a 4-1/2-inch steak knife. A 9-inch sharpening steel keeps their edges in order, and a pair of kitchen shears to snip herbs, flowers, or string is also included. Everything stores neatly in the attractive natural hardwood block.

The knives feature high-carbon, stainless-steel blades that have been stamped from one piece of metal. The edge is cut by laser for a more consistent angle on the blade and hand-honed for sharpness. Blades have also undergone Henckels's Friodur ice-hardening process, which further strengthens them and protects from discoloration. The ergonomically designed traditional-style polymer handles are securely fastened to the balanced full tangs with three rivets. Handles seamlessly encase the tangs on these knives so no food particles can ever become trapped in a gap. Twin Signature knives are all dishwasher-safe (although Henckels recommends washing by hand) and are covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

A good set, and a not so bad value either.4
As far as the premium henckels knife sets go, this one is one of the cheaper ones. They were a gift for my mother and a extreme upgrade over the old dull knives she had been beating on for years. Its hard to find a good henckels set (not those henckels international ones) for $200 or less. These knives were about $200 which compared to the top of the line sets from other brands. As a general rule, if I can find what I need from a respected brand, even if its not that brands best product, I will always choose that over something from an inferior brand, at the same price.

Out of the box the high quality of the knives is evident. I was looking for sets with all the knives you could want without wasting money on steak knives. This set is perfect. If your like my mom, and are transitioning from a dull set, be careful! After a few nicks, you will stop underestimating their sharpness.

Unfortunately they tell you not to put them in the dishwasher. I cant blame them for trying to protect their product but I cant say they are going to be washed by hand all the time either.

Knife and block review4
We bought this set as a Christmas gift to ourselves, because the $10 knife set I bought from Wal-Mart years ago was never very good in the first place and we wanted to stop fighting to cut through food.

These knives are fabulous. There is a large variety to choose from, and they all cut through vegetables and meat like butter. I am in love with the knives.

I would have given 5 stars, but the one thing I hate about the set is the pre-fab "one size fits all" knife block. I can't stand it. I would much prefer a block where the slots are cut to the size of the blades. I would suggest if that is a pet peeve of yours as well, to go out and find a new block that you like. We are in the process of doing so ourselves.

Otherwise the set is great. I have always heard great things about Henckels, and knew that they were the knife set I wanted. Upon use, I am glad to find out that they are just as great as I had heard.

Can't go wrong at this price5
I bought these knives for my mother as a gift. She previously had an old set of Chicago Cutlery knives (30+ years) that needed replacement, and after some research, I decided to go with these.

I own a set of Shun knives myself. I've used her old Chicago Cutlery knives a fair bit, as well as many other brands (mostly inexpensive ones). So I've used dirt cheap, to (nearly) top of the line.

My impressions of the knives...

Pro - These knives have a comfortable, well balanced feel to them. They cut well, and they look handsome in the block.

Con - Other than the minor complaint that the block isn't fitted to the set(some holes are too big for the smaller knives), at this price, no other complaints have merit.

Conclusion - I think these knives are a good deal. If you want a good set of knives, and can't/don't want to spend $1000+ on an upscale set... These are definitely worth a look at.
